I travelled to Turkey with the idea of doing portraits of the women of Istanbul but when I was there, I didn’t think I would have enough time to get to know these women. So, almost without thinking about it I decided to changed my course. I observed them for a number of days and I transformed myself into one of them, for days I walked through the streets of the city, its neighbourhoods. I entered the Mosques where only Muslim women can enter and I prayed alongside them and I joined them in their movements. Characterising myself as one of them opened a door to other worlds that I didn’t have access to beforehand. A photographic experience that surpassed the limits of photography, using my body and trying to get a feel for their day to day routine. With this work I understood that my photographic path had changed.
